DIRECTION Month (August - 2023)
Are you ready to take a deep dive into understanding with clarity, ‘why does your brand exist?’, or do you like jumping into unchartered waters not knowing where it will take you?
Imagine yourself stranded in a dinghy in the ocean just far enough to be able to see all the land and buildings 20-25 miles away but:
- You are so far and tiny for the naked eye that no one is noticing you from such a distance.
- Even if you scream at the top of your lungs, no one hears you. Not even faintly.
- While you are jumping and screaming, no one is even aware that you exist.
- If they do not even know you exist, how can they consider taking you to the shore so you can be part of the civilization that you are trying your best to reach?
That is how running a business without a clear, intentional, and strategic direction feels like to most new or solo entrepreneurs.
You may have all the resources, capital, and systems in place for a mega launch, however without a clear understanding of your ‘WHY’ for the business you will be stranded in a dinghy far away from the land of opportunities, aka clients, who do not know WHY they should hire you.
If you cannot tell them ‘WHY’ you are the right provider to partner with and are questioning your own capabilities in understanding their needs, it will show.
If you do not understand how to solve their pain point, or what their pain point even is, you cannot produce a suitable solution.

Before you know it, frustration will set in, mental and emotional exhaustion will take over and anxiety will start to build, driving your mind into a frenzy of negative and toxic self-talk damaging your self-worth and confidence. You find yourself in this position because when you started you did not take a serious look into why does your brand exist?

Depressing as it sounds, it is what a huge percentage of first-timers or solo entrepreneurs feel and go through because of one single factor – they do not have a clear direction.
Not knowing the ‘WHY’ when creating/running your business becomes a voyage without the compass, aiming for a mirage, gone haywire by unruly and unpredictable storms and winds.

Hence, to understand the WHY behind business you need to ask yourself –
- What is the motivation behind deciding to launch your business?
- What is the problem you are trying to solve?
- How passionately driven are you to provide a solution?
- Who is the person/entity that you want to solve this problem for?
- What are their needs, pain points and wishes?
- How are you going to make an impact with your service?
- Is your business built around your why or are you just trying to cash-in on the trends?
- Why are you a better provider for your client?
And most importantly, be willing to learn, adapt and evolve with the market and as you understand the needs of your clients better from constant feedback.
